Los videojuegos ofrecen una puerta de entrada a todas las ni\u00f1as interesadas en las carreras STEM y las ciencias en general<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Si de jugar videojuegos se trata, las ni\u00f1as han demostrado ser igual de buenas que los ni\u00f1os, no hay diferencia en cuanto a sus habilidades para ello, y de hecho, cada vez son m\u00e1s<\/a> ni\u00f1as y adolescentes que lo hacen. Entonces, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 no hacer que las ni\u00f1as se sientan con mayor confianza al jugar videojuegos?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Videojuegos y carreras STEM<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Las ventajas son m\u00e1s que mejoras en el tejido social, ya que seg\u00fan un estudio promovido por la Universidad de Surrey, las ni\u00f1as de 13\u201314 a\u00f1os que juegan videojuegos como entretenimiento alrededor de nueve horas a la semana son mucho m\u00e1s propensas a buscar una carrera STEM (por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), enfocadas en Ciencias Tecnolog\u00eda, Ingenier\u00eda y Matem\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tambi\u00e9n, se comprob\u00f3 que las capacidades de las ni\u00f1as para desempe\u00f1arse en estas carreras no son diferentes a las de los ni\u00f1os. Seg\u00fan reporta The Guardian<\/a>, m\u00e1s de 100 estudios internacionales en los que han participado m\u00e1s de tres millones de ni\u00f1as y ni\u00f1os en igualdad de circunstancias, probaron que las ni\u00f1as en primaria tienen mejor rendimiento en Matem\u00e1ticas que los ni\u00f1os, en secundaria su rendimiento es el mismo al de ellos y solo una peque\u00f1a pero no significativa ventaja se presenta en los ni\u00f1os para la resoluci\u00f3n de problemas complejos. A pesar de esto, a\u00fan hay menos mujeres que hombres cursando carreras STEM a nivel internacional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ni\u00f1as mejor representadas<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

La poca interacci\u00f3n entre ni\u00f1as y el mundo STEM, puede deberse a la falta de apropiados modelos a seguir para ellas que faciliten su integraci\u00f3n en el mundo de la tecnolog\u00eda y en consecuencia en el mundo laboral a futuro. Los videojuegos son a menudo el primer escal\u00f3n para una representaci\u00f3n coherente y exitosa: desde mujeres y adolescentes competidoras en e-sports<\/a>, hasta desarrolladoras que intentan romper los estereotipos<\/a> de los videojuegos para con las ni\u00f1as.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Una relaci\u00f3n curiosa<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

La Dra. Anesa Hosein, responsable del estudio citado anteriormente por la Universidad de Surrey, afirma que aquellos quienes estudian carreras STEM muy probablemente tambi\u00e9n son gamers, entonces, necesitamos animar a las ni\u00f1as gamers de hoy a ser las estudiantes de ingenier\u00eda y f\u00edsica y pioneras de ma\u00f1ana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es responsabilidad de los padres, tutores e instituciones hacerle ver a las ni\u00f1as que en el mundo de las ciencias, ellas tambi\u00e9n tienen un lugar y a veces, la manera m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de hacerlo, es a trav\u00e9s de un videojuego.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
